Renovation of a 1930s Villa with a Modern Extension in Noordwijk
Client review:
“It has such a great vibe! So much invisible comfort. The quality of materials and construction really makes all the difference for this result!”
Last month, we completed a high-end renovation of a 1930s villa in Noordwijk with a modern prefab wooden extension. The extension was fully prefabricated in the factory, allowing the structural shell to be installed on-site within just two days. The characterful oak structure had already been placed by the contractor. Its design was inspired by the beam construction of a traditional Spanish finca, combining classic charm with modern precision.
By adding a modern extension with extra-tall, slim Metaglas windows, the ground floor area was doubled, and the indoor-outdoor connection was greatly enhanced thanks to the abundant glass. The exterior cladding is made of untreated, modified hardwood, which will naturally weather to a silvery grey, perfectly complementing the villa’s coastal location near Noordwijk aan Zee.
Inside, the villa has been fully modernized with sustainable solutions and all the comforts of contemporary living. The minimalist, high-end interior features meticulous detailing: shadow gaps throughout, faucets aligned perfectly with tile joints, and finishes coordinated to full tile dimensions.
Upstairs, the original roof structure has been exposed by insulating the roof from the outside, creating a striking contrast between old and new. Part of the attic has been integrated into the bedroom level, enhancing the sense of space and openness on the upper floor.
